About our Nursery Class

The school will start offering nursery provision from September 2015. As in many villages, the village preschool has closed and we are concerned many children are not accessing their full entitlement of preschool provision. We are keen to meet this need and feel that nursery provision as part of the school, with a fully qualified teacher will offer children the best opportunity to have high quality preschool provision, supporting them to be ‘school ready’ and providing smooth transition into school.

Children can join the nursery from the age of 3. Nursery age children join Willow Class, our Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) class, along with reception age children. This is housed in the old School House, which is connected to the school. It has a fully-enclosed, extensive outdoor play area, including a raised bed area, a covered area and a giant sandpit. Inside, there are various areas for different kinds of activities and play.

Willow Class is very much part of our school, allowing for a seamless transition when children start school. The children regularly visit the main school and join the occasional assembly. However, to ensure such young children feel safe and secure, nursery age children have separate break times in their own area with their own staff.
