Eco Schools Week

 18th December 2013

Dear parents/carers,

We are very excited to be holding a Eco-Week from Monday January 13th through to Friday January 17th.  During this week the children will be experiencing a variety of activities based on environmental issues. We have already formed an Eco School committee who are going to work extremely hard to help us make our school greener. We will be having a visit from a local art group who will help the children to create a piece of art made out of recycled materials that will remain in school for years to come This is a real opportunity  to work alongside professional artists. Friends of the school have very kindly donated 50% of the cost and we are asking for a further contribution from each child of £2.50.

Please could you also start saving any well washed plastic milk bottles, water bottles and any coloured plastic. We will also need plastic carrier bags, cables, wires, broken fairy lights and brightly coloured sweet wrappers Quality Street or Roses are great.

Finally as part of our Eco-Week, both Chestnut and Sycamore Class will be visiting Viridor, a materials recycling facility site in Great Blakenham near Ipswich. Chestnut Class on Tuesday January 14th and Sycamore on Wednesday January 15th. On both days we will be leaving school at 9.15 a.m. and returning from the Site at 12.30 p.m.  The children will need to bring a packed lunch and drink with them. This trip is subsidised by Viridor, but we are asking for a contribution of £3.50 per child to meet the total cost.  We should also be grateful for offers of help on both days.  We need an extra 3 adults if at all possible.

Please sign the permission slip below making sure you add an emergency contact number for that morning and enclose the payment.

Yours faithfully,

Vicky Doherty - Headteacher
