Summer Term 2018 - Newsletter 1

4th May 2018

Dear parents/carers,

100 Million Minutes

Our children read for over 50,000 minutes in the month of March! This is a fantastic achievement. Congratulations need to go to Niles, Sophie and Noah who were the top three readers in the school. Thank you for your support with this.

Online Wellbeing Workshops for Parents

You may remember that the last newsletter contained details about the  NHS Wellbeing Service where you can access free online training sessions. More detail about these courses have come into school.

Two free online workshops are being offered each month. These aim to enable parents to support their child to be able to cope with the ups and downs of life. Both online workshops are evidence based and presented by health professionals form the Wellbeing Suffolk Service. The two workshops are:

Parenting the Anxious Child - Running fourth Tuesday of the month, 10 - 11.30am

Parenting the Anxious Child will help parents understand what anxiety is and how to recognise it in children. It will provide help with practical, hands on strategies as well as reflective work.

Raising Happy and Resilient Children - Running last Wednesday of the month, 10-11.00am

Raising Happy and Resilient Children provides help on how to raise happy confident children in developing coping strategies to maintain healthy relationships, service hardship, problem solve and talk about their feelings.

Both workshops are live and interactive, giving the opportunity to ask questions throughout. For more information go to www.wellbeingnands.co.uk/courses.

Auditions

This year’s play will be ‘Porridge’, a  musical comedy with lots of nursery rhyme and fairy tale characters that begins "Once upon a crime"! Auditions will take place wc 21.05.18. Children should have brought home a letter this week about the auditions process. If they would like to audition, they need to complete and return the form on the first page as soon as possible. Being a small school, we are fortunate that every child will be able to take part.

Please make a note of the many dates listed below, including class assemblies, Sports Night and the performances of Porridge.
