Summer Term 2018 - Newsletter 2

8th June 2018

Dear parents/carers,

French Trip

There are now less than two weeks until KS2’s trip to France. A letter will be going out with this newsletter with the final details. We are very excited!

Youtube Parents’ Guide

A really helpful guide to Youtube has been developed by UK Safer Internet Centre and is available here. https://www.saferinternet.org.uk/blog/parent%E2%80%99s-guide-youtube-restricted-mode

It includes helpful information about setting restricted mode.

New Staff

I am delighted to tell you that we have made two excellent appointments for September.

Mrs Annabel Brighton will be working in Lime Class (YR/1/2) for two days a week, job sharing with Mrs Sheeran. Mrs Brighton is an experienced teacher who is relocating from the West Midlands. I have not interviewed a more passionate, caring teacher before!

Mrs Sarah Mathlin will be working on Fridays in Chestnut Class. Mrs Mathlin has previously worked as a high school maths teacher so will be a great asset with out current focus on raising standards in maths.

We will be sorry to say goodbye to Mr Brown and Mrs Curtis Brown and are very grateful for their help filling our teaching vacancies over the last year.

Other staffing and the class structure will remain the same next year.

Uniform

We have noticed a few slips in the standard of school uniform recently. Please remember the following:

  • Hair should be tied back

  • Make up should not be worn

  • Trousers should not be leggings and should be plain

  • Our uniform colour is grey, not black

I am aware of some children whose parents have explained that they are wearing trainers for medical reasons or temporarily due to broken or lost shoes, but please be aware that shoes should be black shoes (not trainers) and should not boots.

Warmer Weather

As the weather is warmer, please make sure that your child has a water bottle in school. We also recommend that they bring a hat and wear suncream. There are areas of shade outside, but children often choose not to use them!

Porridge Performance

Our first rehearsal this week was the best first play rehearsal yet so we are very optimistic about this year’s play, Porridge.

Some children have already learnt their lines. Please support your child to do this as soon as possible - it really helps the rehearsals if they don’t have to have scripts in their hands!

The performances will be on the afternoon on 17th July and the evening on 18th July. We ask that no pre-school children come to the evening performance. Information about tickets will be sent out nearer the time
