Spring Term 2018 - Newsletter 2

16th March 2018

Dear parents/carers,

Easter Service & Easter Gardens

You are warmly invited to join us for our Easter Service in the Church on Monday 26th March at 9am. As has become something of a biennial event, we will be inviting children to make an Easter Garden to take to the service. There are lots of online ideas for what these could look like, but please bear in mind that they need to be able to be transported to the church easily! Children can start bringing them into school from next Monday (19th). It would be good to have them in school for a few days before the service so we can share and celebrate them properly in classes before the service.

Emotional Wellbeing Gateway

This website has been developed to support emotional and mental wellbeing by signposting users to advice and resources. There are some excellent resources that could support you if you are concerned about your child, for example if you feel they are feeling stressed or anxious. The site also has links to the NHS Wellbeing Service where you can access free online training sessions in the form of live webinars on topics such as ‘Parenting an Anxious Child’ and ‘Raising Happy and Resilient Children’. These come highly recommended by professionals and are part of Suffolk’s drive to support mental health and emotional wellbeing. There are resources to support adult emotional and mental wellbeing on the sites as well

Class Photos

These were scheduled to have been taken on one of the snow days. They will now take place on Wednesday 25th April.

100 Million Minutes

Lots of children in the school have really engaged with this and several have already clocked up over 800 minutes reading in the first 2 weeks. One child (I won’t reveal their name until assembly on Monday) has read for over 1000 minutes! Don’t forget to complete your bookmarks and bring them in on Thursdays until the end of term. If you have forgotten a bookmark, it can still be brought into school and the minutes will count! Remember that any reading counts - including reading in school (including in The Escape at lunchtimes) and adults reading to children.

It is important that all children take part if at all possible as our school total gets divided by the total number of children on roll for the national competition, so a couple of children opting out of recording the minutes they read could make a real difference.
