Newsletter Spring Term 2016 - Newsletter 3 18th March 2016 Dear parents/carers, After School Clubs You should have received information already about after school clubs for next term and these are proving very popular as always. Once the new term starts, we will be asking parents to collect children from clubs that take place in school (e.g. art, film, sewing) at the school gate, rather than coming into school. This is in line with our safeguarding procedures. Parent Governor Elections You should have received a letter and nomination form yesterday about the vacancy. If this has gone astray and you would like a copy, please inform the office. Village Litter Pick A reminder that the village litter pick is taking place on Sunday (20th March). Here are the details: VILLAGE LITTER PICK VILLAGE HALL, SUNDAY 20th MARCH, 10.00am Please join us for the next Village Litter Pick! We will meet at the Village Hall as usual and, depending on numbers, will tackle as much of the village as we can, especially the roads coming in from the A140, the Collingford Bridge area and Hockey Hill. Black sacks, pick-up sticks and hi-vis jackets are provided by MSDC, along with some (large!) heavy duty gloves, although you may prefer to bring your own. We will regroup in the Village Hall at about 11.30 for refreshments. ALL WELCOME. **PLEASE COME AND HELP SO THAT WE CAN CLEAR AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE** To support this, the children will be doing some litter picking this afternoon. Easter Raffle A huge thank you on behalf of the Friends for all the very generous donations of prizes for the Easter Egg Raffle. The draw will take place in assembly on the last day of term. You can support even more by buying some squares for £1 each. The boards will be available before and after school in the playground. Easter Gardens The Easter Gardens that have been brought into school already have been lovely, showing some real creativity! Please bring in your gardens on Monday, ready to take to the service in the church on Tuesday. More information about the Easter Gardens is available in the original letter here. Easter Service A reminder that this will take place at 9am on Tuesday morning in the church, led By Rev. Julia Lall. Friends and families are welcome to join us. It will not last longer than half an hour. School Council are keen to make this a termly event - watch this space! Footwear With spring finally on its way, we are beginning to be able to use the field and garden at breaktimes. However, it is still very muddy and children need a change of shoes before they are able to go on it. Please provide trainers/old shoes or wellies that are not PE trainers as we are finding that huge amounts of mud are ending up in PE bags and the classrooms when they change for PE. St George’s Day Lunch There will be a special lunch on Friday 22nd April to mark St George’s Day. The menu will be: Harry Ramsden’s Fish Fillet OR Handmade Vegemince Pasty Chips Mushy Peas Tomato Sauce Classic Victoria Sponge This can be ordered on the usual weekly lunch menu form that will be emailed out.
