Dear parents/carers,


Lunchtimes

We have starting serving lunches in two sittings this week. Reception and years 1,2 and 6 go straight in to have their lunch at the beginning of lunchtime. Years 3,4 and 5 go out to play for about 25 minutes before going in for their lunch. Children get a chance to play together for the last 25 minutes or so. The feedback from children has been very positive. They enjoy being served quicker and find that the hall is much quieter and calmer. One child described it as ‘awesome’!


Some of our older children are missing being able to burn off energy on the field at lunchtimes so from Monday, children in KS2 (year 3 - 6) will be able to play on the field for some of the lunchtime break if they bring trainers to change into. If you are concerned about their clothes getting muddy, please also send in a pair of jogging bottoms for them to change in to.


Building Work

We are delighted with the building work in the School House, turning the stairs so they are no longer in the middle of the room has made a massive difference and really opened up the room.


Values for Life

This half term, we will be thinking about ‘trust’ in our collective worship and throughout the school.


Class Assemblies

All are welcome to come and find out about what children in each class have been learning in our class assemblies, all at 9am:

  • 6th March - Chestnut Tree Class

  • 13th March - Sycamore Tree Class

  • 20th March - Willow & Lime Tree Classes


Parking

We are all very aware of the difficulties with parking at pick up and drop off times, but please make sure you park considerately and safely.


The school gives parking permits for parking in the school carpark to those who have children under 5 or mobility problems. If you do not have a permit and are eligible for one, or have lost your permit, please contact Mrs Abbott in the office. Permits should be displayed on the car dashboard. No other cars should use the school car park at the beginning and end of the day. Dropping off in the carpark by other users is also not permitted. This is to keep our children safe.


PE Kit

It can be freezing cold on the field at the moment, but not all children have jogging bottoms in their PE kits. Please make sure they have these. They are also welcome to bring a fleece or other suitable top or can wear their school jumper when they do PE. If it is really cold, they may even wear a suitable coat.


Severe Weather

With snow forecast for this weekend, a reminder that if the school needs to closed due to bad weather, parents will be informed through regular updates on Radio Suffolk and Heart FM and on the Suffolk County Council website http://schoolclosures.suffolk.gov.uk/schoolsrolite.php?qtype=primary. I will also put a message on the front page of the school website.


Schools are encouraged stay open whenever possible so closure will only happen in very exceptional circumstances. It is more likely that we will open late if the roads are bad first thing in the morning. Information about late openings will be posted in the same places.
