Spring Term 2014 - Newsletter 3

14th March 2014

Dear Parents/Carers,

Sports Relief Welly Walk

Following Sycamore Tree Class’s assembly at 9am on Friday 21st March, we will be doing a wellie walk for Sports Relief. Parents are invited to come and join their children to walk a mile round the field in their wellies. We are asking for a donation of £1 from each child.

Maths Open Door Day

Tuesday 25th March will be our Maths Open Door Day. As part of our school development focus on maths, we will be doing maths activities all day. Parents and members of the community are welcome to come into school at any point during the school day to join us and work alongside their child and/or spend time with each class. There will be an assembly at 2.30 p.m. to share with you our activities of the day.

African Adventure Information Evening

Staff from Sizewell Hall will be in school at 6pm on Thursday 20th March to speak to parents and children in Y5/6 about this summer’s residential visit.

Value for Life

This half term we will be focusing on ‘creativity’ in collective worship and throughout the school. We will be encouraging children to value the gift of creation and linking this to the creative spirit within each person.

Coats!

The recent sunny weather has been wonderful, but the weather is still changeable and has been quite chilly in the morning. Please make sure your child continues to bring a coat to school every day.

Website & Blog

Don’t forget to look at our website www.wvcpschool.com regularly to see lots of news and photos about what has been happening in school.

Dr Dan Poulter MP Visit

Our local MP, Dr Dan Poulter will be visiting the school today. He will be planting an elm tree sapling that is part of the Great British Elm Experiment. This is an exciting project which hopes to reintroduce elm trees to replace those lost to Dutch Elm Disease. These trees have been propagated from those that seemed resistant to the disease and the GBEE are asking that schools monitor the trees' progress for the next twenty years in order that they can pinpoint which trees have resistance and reintroduce them throughout the country.
