Summer Term 2017 - Newsletter 2

9th June 2017

Dear parents/carers,

Value for Life

This term’s value is ‘responsibility’. This will be the theme of our collective worship and something that we will be focusing on across the school. A big part of this focus will be on how we need to take responsibility for our actions, both what we do and, particularly, what we say. We will also explore the idea of using our talents well for the good of others. Children will be bringing home the attached activity sheet today.

Anti-bullying Week

The week beginning 19th June will be Anti-Bullying Week in school. We have successfully had similar weeks in the past which serve as an effective reminder to the whole school community on how we expect children to behave towards one another and, in particular, what the impact of bullying can be on others.

Children will be bringing things home on the theme, including a homework task. This will be a really valuable opportunity for you to talk together with your children about this important issue.

Auditions have taken place and roles have been cast for this year’s production which is Murder at Magpie Manor! The children are very excited and rehearsals will be starting very soon. I know that parents will be supporting their children to learn their lines and any songs over the next few weeks. A letter about tickets will be sent home nearer the time.

Governors Statement of Behaviour Principles

As mentioned in the recent Termly Report to Parents, this is due for review this term. A copy of the draft statement and a questionnaire is attached with this letter and will be sent home as a hard copy with children today for your response.

Peer Mentors

Our peer mentor system in which Year 6 children are paired up as mentors for children starting school in Reception each year is a really successful and important feature of the school. An appointment system is in place for this important role and Year 5 children have had application forms this week. These need to be returned by Monday at the latest as interviews will take place next week.
