Summer Term 2015 - Newsletter 2

12th June 2015

Dear parents/carers,

Mrs Abbott

Mrs Abbott will be retiring at the end of the school year. Mrs Abbott has been a huge part of the school for an incredible 28 years and will be greatly missed by everyone.

Mrs Penistone - Sycamore Class

Mrs Penistone, the new Sycamore Class teacher will be spending some time in school next Tuesday (16th June). Sycamore Class parents are invited to come and have a cup of tea with her and say hello from 2.45pm in the library. Mrs Penistone will start working with the class on 22nd June. I will be working closely with her to ensure a smooth handover.

For the final few weeks of term,Year 2 will be working with Willow Class in the mornings as well as the afternoons. Mrs Besley will join Mrs Foreman and Mrs Hammond on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday mornings. This will help the Year 2 children get used to working in a larger class with less individual adult attention in preparation for their transition to Sycamore Class in September. It will also give the staff who will be working together next year an opportunity to begin to work together and for Mrs Besley and the Reception and Y1 children to get to know each other well, ready for next year. I will be continuing to work closely with Sycamore Class and their new teacher to support the Y3 & 4 children after the difficult year they have had.

Value for Life

The children in our Ethos Committee have chosen the value of ‘Justice’ for this half term. We will be teaching children about our responsibility for one another, especially the poor and oppressed. You can support with this by highlighting any links that you notice at home, for example in the news or in the work of charities.

Alice in Wonderland Tickets

A hard copy of a letter about tickets for Alice in Wonderland will be going home today . We have tried to make the allocation of tickets as fair as possible. They will be limited to four per family and will be allocated on a first come, first served basis from Monday onward.

We sent home the first batch of maths Key Instant Recall Facts for Y1 - 5 earlier this week. Please practise these with your child little and often - we suggest three times a week. They will make a big difference to their achievement in maths.

Suncream and Hats

With the days warming up please ensure your child has a sun hat and suncream in school.  Suncream cannot be applied to children by school staff.
