Newsletter Summer Term 2016 - Newsletter 4 8th July 2016 Dear parents/carers, Classes and Staffing from September 2016 On Tuesday this week, we had our transition morning, with Year 6 visiting the high school all day and other children spending the morning in the classes they will be in next year. They had a lovely morning, doing a variety of activities to get to know each other and to begin to think about their hopes and dreams for the next school year. As you will know, back in March governors made the very difficult decision to end nursery provision from September as the low projected numbers made it financially unsustainable. As a result, there will be some changes to staffing and classes when we start the new school year. We will be saying a very sad goodbye to Mrs. Jones who has done a fantastic job in Willow Class this year. Mrs Jones has decided to have a break from teaching to take up an alternative role in the education sector. From September, Reception children will be joining Years 1 and 2 all day in Lime Class, as was previously the case prior to nursery provision. Mrs Besley and Mrs Foreman are leaving the school to take up a position teaching in Stowmarket, and I know you will join me in wishing them all the very best in their new school. I am delighted to announce that Miss Jade Swire will be joining us as our Early Years and Key Stage 1 teacher from September. Miss Swire is a newly qualified teacher who is relocating to Suffolk and comes highly recommended. We are very excited about having another new and enthusiastic member of staff to join our team in Wetheringsett and Miss Swire will be spending time in school to meet the children in Lime Class before the end of term. Lime Class will also be supported by Mrs Hammond and Mrs Bell, who the children already know very well. Key Stage 2 will be as it is now, with Mrs Penistone teaching Years 3 and 4 in Sycamore Class, supported by Mrs Farrant, and Mrs Sharpe teaching Years 5 and 6 in Chestnut Class, supported by Mrs Pratt. Please get in touch if you have any questions about any of the arrangements. Home School Agreement Consultation We are currently reviewing our Home School Agreement ready for the new school year. At the Come and Share parents’ evening on Wednesday, Tina Daubney, our chair of governors was asking parents for their views. If you took a consultation sheet home to complete, please return it by the end of today. Mrs Daubney will be present at Sports Night if you would like to give it to her there. Ye-Ha! performances Tickets for the evening performance have sold out. However, if anyone would like any extra tickets to the afternoon performance on Monday 18th July, please enquire at the office. Key stage 2 children’s costumes should have been brought into school by by today and Reception and Key Stage 1 children need to have brought theirs in by next Wednesday (13th July). If your child has not learnt their lines, please have a big push on this over the weekend as rehearsals next week will be without scripts! Breakfast Club Breakfast Club is going from strength to strength with more and more children attending. We are delighted with this success, but with the increase in numbers, we are close to being full on some days. It is therefore crucial that places are booked in advance, by 3.30pm the previous day. If you do this by email (tracey.sheppard@wvcpschool.com) , please do not assume that you have a place unless you have received a reply. With the changes in classes, from September, Breakfast Club will be moving to the School House conservatory. Those attending will be able to come through the side gate (where Willow Class children currently enter) and enter through the conservatory door. Report Reply Slip If you have not yet signed and returned the reply slip that came with your child’s report, please do so as soon as possible. Remember to check the school website (www.wvcpschool.com) for news about the exciting things that happen in school. Vicky Doherty Headteacher Dates for your diary:
