Spring is finally coming and we are looking forward to using out wonderful outdoor spaces as much as possible over the coming months. At break times, children have been making full use of the garden already. Den building was all the rage last week and this week we have had many budding archaeologist finding all manner of old things when digging and many of the younger children have been busy making ‘bug hotels’. Hopefully you will be able to make the most of the outdoors over the Easter break and we look forward to children returning to school.

Headteacher
Stonham Barns
Every class has been on a school trip this term to support the topic they have been learning. Willow and Lime Class were first with their trip to Stonham Barns as part of their work on animals.
Colchester Castle
Sycamore Class learnt about Roman Britain in their visit to Colchester Castle with lots of hands-on activities, including (virtual) chariot racing and building a Celtic roundhouse and Roman villa.
Banham Zoo
Chestnut Class’s science work on classification was supported by their trip to Banham Zoo.
Red Nose Day
There were all sorts of funny sights on Red Nose Day when children dressed up to raise money for Comic Relief. Our Sports Leaders did a great job leading a comedy version of the Golden Mile.
Dance Exam Success
Congratulations to Amber and Rosie Knowles on their recent successful dance exams. Both were awarded ‘merit’, Rosie in Grade 1 and Amber in Grade 2. They looked wonderful in their costumes!
Swimming Success
Ollie, Daniel and Will Brown have had recent swimming success, with Ollie achieving Stage 3 and Daniel Stage 6. Will brought in 5 medals from his club championships, including 2nd place in the 200m breaststroke.
The Finished Igloo!
After literally hundreds of bottles were brought into school, Willow Class’s igloo was finally finished! Thank you to everyone who supported this. The children loved it and it really brought the ‘wow’ factor to their polar topic.
MP Visit
During Year 6’s visit to the Houses of Parliament as part of their London trip, Dr Dan Poulter was unexpectedly called into the House and was not able to meet us. However, he made up for this by coming into school to answer all their questions.
Rugby Tournaments
Our rugby team had a great time playing against other local schools at Diss Rugby Club recently. It was great to see how their skills and tactics improved just during the competition.
Hockey Tournaments
The hockey team also did very well at their inter-schools competition, coming 5th overall and winning one game 5-0!
Reminder!
We are asking parents to send in plimsolls (or other lightweight suitable shoes) from this term for children to use for gym and dance PE lessons in the hall.
And another reminder...
School meals will be provided by Norse from 13.4.15 at the new lower cost of £2.10. Menus have been sent home and are available on the school website

Gym Centre Trip
A real highlight for many was the whole school to the gymnastics centre in Ipswich. They had a wonderful time, achieving things in one morning that many of them never thought they would be able to do. Years 5 and 6 enjoyed it so much they have written to the headteacher to persuade her to take them once a term!
Nursery Update
Plans are moving ahead to offer nursery places from September. We now have Nursery Brochure and admissions form available for anyone who is interested. Please contact the school office to register any child for a place. This can be done from birth. A flyer with further information will be going home later this week.
